Two

Image
To my Audrey Anna, You are TWO! What a smart, funny, sneaky, cute girl you are. We've been drilling you for months, "How old are you going to be??" and by now you have it down pat, "DO!!!" Out of all the "babies", you win the coveted awards like, most likely to fall off the bunk bed, most likely to snort a pea/marble/barbie shoe up your nose, most likely to help yourself to milk and processed cheese from the fridge (only the last one has actually happened...so far) You make all of us laugh, give great hugs and snuggles and keep us on our toes. We're excited to jump into the next year with you and all of the learning that it holds. Potty training, learning to obey, playing, YAY! I love you AudiAnna! So glad you're part of our family Love, Mommy

Two Weeks from Two

I wear fancy shoes while reading books next to my sister  I recently asked to wear a princess dress for the first time  I try to put on my sisters' panties when they're not around  I eat cereal with a spoon like a big girl  I "help" mom sort laundry by taking one pile out of the basket and putting it in a different (wrong) basket, all while naming the person that the article of clothing belongs to "ehyaehya DADDY ehyaaah MOMMY....eeeeMINE...."

18 Months

Image
Dear Audrey, It's not my practice (I don't think?) to write an 18 month letter to my babies, but I have yet to write many letters to you on this ol' blog to mark your milestones, so an 18 month letter it is! The lack of letters is not a sign of  lack of love or interest in recording your early years...I'm simply too busy either snuggling you and pulling you off of the kitchen table! (also, true confession, my brain is tired) Your birth feels like forever ago but it's still hard to wrap my mind around the fact that you've been hanging with us for one and half years now. You bring us so many smiles every day, Baby #3. At 18 months you can... walk, run, climb, sign "more" and "all done", sleep through the night, find your special lovey no matter where we hide it (to keep you from sucking your thumb), tell us when you have a dirty diaper and say a handful of "words" Words like... Dada, Mama, Liza, Eat (EEEEEE!!!), Up (UH UH...

Slowing Down

Image
{Slowing down to see on this Sunday morning} A three and a half year old wearing a 24 month hand-me-down smocked clemson dress  with squeaky clean hair picking out the perfect nail polish colors on an unmade bed  A five and a half year old wearing a 4T hand me down smocked clemson dress making a sticky note book for her Gigi with spelling help from mom resting one foot on top of the other

If your mom gives in to the sobbing & the climbing on to the bathroom stool to get to the sink and she lets you suck on your big sister's tooth brush May your big sister be too busy reading to notice

This time last we were sure that baby #3 would have arrived by now. My mom had been with us for a week already and our move to South Carolina loomed in the near future. Little did we know that she would bake for another 6 days!

do you hear that ticking sound? its ME. i'm a TICKING TIME BOMB As we wait for the baby to make her debut, we've taken on the easy  task of entertaining my mom. We took her to the science center (where Caris practiced her silly face for the camera) We've played Candy Land, Uno, Spot It and with Play Dough. We've written a letter to Pops and watched two movies.    In exchange, she's given us a date night (Chiptole + buying newborn diapers eeeek !)  flowers and  dessert under the guise winkyface of supporting the MOPS ministry at church

Thoughts on Ending Well

Image
35 weeks Pregnancy is a blessing IAMNOTCOMPLAINING and children are a gift from the Lord (Psalm 127:3) b u t for many women, there comes a time when things get hard. Physically, emotionally,PASSMETHATDONUT. So, I'm faced with a conundrum (college degree what what) of enjoying the last few weeks of the journey- a journey special only to me + baby and Wow, I can't feel my legs and why am I walking like my 87 year grandmother? The emotional swing can be steep and quick at times. THIS IS A MIRACLE, I AM SO THANKFUL to I CAN NOT GO ON, SOMEBODY HOLD ME in about 2 seconds. Same goes for moving. We have a unique situation, but I'd venture to say that most people come to a point in packing and moving where they think, BUCK UP this isn't the end of the world hold on a second this is the end of MY world. I'd like to end my pregnancy and our our move well. Ending well for me looks quiet (because without enough sleep, I'm bound to say some crazy things and ma...

Questions Answered

Image
Our new van I'm back to answer some of the questions that follow " You're pregnant?! " However, I'll skip Ilse's (our 77 year old German friend) first question to us, "Was this on purpose?" Ilse!! 1. How are you FEELING??  The old(er) ladies at bible are sweet to ask "How are you FEEEEELING ??" every Thursday at bible study. I always answer with a cheery "good!" because I don't want to dive into details- like how every  some afternoons I walk on the treadmill at the Y and burp the entire time and hope no one picks the empty treadmill next to me. This pregnancy has been a total Dream Boat! I'm so thankful and relieved. I haven't hugged the toilet once, which is something I couldn't say for my two previous pregnancies. We found out at 7 weeks because after eating chocolate, I wasn't filled with warm fuzzies. It hardly had any taste at all to me(WHAT??) Although the pregnancy has been easy, physical...

A New Class

Caris is teaching a new class! With a little over two years of experience under her belt, Caris has many thoughts to share with Liza. The class runs through the spring and early summer and will end (really just begin?) in August.
