The Find of the Century

Shout Out to all my Thrifty Moms out there- woot! To avoid becoming a hoarder, I'm starting to thrift less {insert Kent raising his hands up to heaven, doing a dance and thanking the Lord}  & I've become pickier about what I buy (With the exception of baby girl clothes. At the rate I'm going, her clothes will fill up all of our closets and we'll be running around buck nekkid) The question that I ask myself when debating a purchase is... Am I willing to drag this all the way around the Western Hemisphere?  I asked myself that question when I layed eyes on this little beauty and I immediately said YES. I lay pretty low in life  when thrifting. No bargaining or anything crazy, but when I saw this play kitchen, I picked it up, dragged it to the front of the store and bravely said, "Can you stick a SOLD sign on this?"  I was totally stoked and although Kent tried to be excited for me, I was missing my Thrifting Mentor, Shelly. Thrifter

Image
You Might Be a "Thrifter" If... 1. You keep a jar of coins in the front seat of your car 2. Your house is full of "someday projects"  3. You've been to Goodwill on July 4th or Labor Day for the 50/% off sale 4. Your response to compliments often sound like, "THANKS!! Ann Taylor Loft, only $3!!" 5. Your Mother was a thrifter  Most recent purchase, even though we're purging our house.  A puzzle for $1.25.  My reasoning: you can rarely find Christmas items that are just plain Jesus (in a good way). I'm surprised Santa isn't poking up between Mary & Joseph.

The Anti-Splurge

To balance out my recent splurge  and to reassure you that I'm still a thrifty shopper, here's my KMart clearance find.  Item: 12 month corduroy ruffle skirt with tights Price: $1.99 Need/Want: Technically, this goes under the "want" category, but Baby doesn't have many 12 month clothes and at the rate we're going, she'll be wearing this until she's 3.  And $1.99?? Can't beat that with a stick.
