Bucket List

Well friends, I can check "Cry in the church hallway at home school co-op" off of my bucket list. Lest you think that I was alone, let me paint the picture for you... It happened during the transition to Devotions, outside of the sanctuary, when seventy-ish families were bustling around going hither and yon. And it wasn't like, a few fat tears. I sobbed my guts out. The worst part was that my oldest daughter saw it all. Don't worry though... I'm fine, it's all fine, it's really just THE STORY OF MY LIFE. Here are a few other places where I've cried in  public.. 1. Dave Read's birthday party (4th grade) 2. Spanish class (High school) 3. Astronomy class (High school) 4. In my future in-law's kitchen (after Sunday lunch, in front of everyone) 5. Once every four years I taught (in front of my principal, every time) 6. Home school co-op (Monday) Comment below if you've seen me at other places crying. I'm sure there's more wink

Last August

Image
This time last we were sure that baby #3 would have arrived by now. My mom had been with us for a week already and our move to South Carolina loomed in the near future. Little did we know that she would bake for another 6 days!

Thankful Thursday

1. A husband, in between morning meetings, that is willing to deliver carpet cleaner and children's Tylenol 2. The 4 for $4 deal at Wendy's and the freedom to finally bite the bullet and splurge on a fast food lunch  3. Lego Story Time at the library and kids that are slowly getting into Legos 4. Peet's coffee 5. A new to me cell phone (thanks, Ben!) 6. Summer afternoon thunderstorms  7. A teething baby who's willing to stay still and snuggle (for once!) 8. Episodes of either The Great British Baking Show and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee at night 9. Big girls that can play a card game. Without me.  10. Friends that bring chocolate chip cookie bars to our playdate

3 Confessions

Image
MAN happy AUGUST! We're going through these months faster than my kids go through bathroom squirt hand soap. Here are three confessions to start off a new month 1. Homeschool Not so much a confession, but something I should type  say out loud. We will homeschool this year for Kindergarten. A couple of sweet veteran homeschooling moms have reassured me that it's "just kindergarten" (so true! no pressure!) Still, there are a few things that I need to teach--letters, numbers, reading-- and judging by the plans for preK that I wrote but never actually accomplished with Caris, that's my biggest hurdle. Actually doing it. 2. Recycle Occasionally (and I do mean occasionallyyyy like once a week) I throw a recycle-able item in the trash because I don't have the emotional fortitude to a) let it sit on the counter all day or b) walk it straight out to the recycle can in the backyard. I feel guilt over this so while I'm throwing it away, I yell "NEW HEAVE
