November {Goals}

-Create or bake one item every week with the big girls -Make granola -Be a grace giver instead of a prosector, judge and juror like my friend Paul encourages me to do -Donate canned goods to the library thus erasing my current $3.40 fine -Move my hind parts in some form or fashion daily  most days: walk, bike , walk up and down my split level house multiple times returning stuff to its correct place -Read one book -Bake a thanksgiving dessert -Read about and explain the origin of Thanksgiving to the girls and sort out what's real and what I learned from watching Pocahontas  -Create a few Christmas school lesson plans for the girls -Get dressed up and attend The Nutcracker

Scripture & Song {January/February}

I didn't pick a word for 2018 (If I did, it might've been "HALP") and my only two official goals contradict themselves-- bake bread and lose the baby weight.  I did, however, steal  borrow a family goal from Keith and Kristyn . They pick a hymn every month and memorize it with their girls. I bet they memorize the entire thing because they're Irish, musical and awesome, but for us ... we're aiming for the first verse. Kent's a decent singer and I am not. I sing so quietly and badly that I'm waiting for the day when Caris says, "Wait. Is mommy lip-synching?? "  In the past five years of parenting we have STUNK all caps for emphasis at family goals. Tidying up the house, manners, bible reading BUT NO MORE. {Fist pump in the air} This plan is simple... at the end of dinner when you want to curl up in your closet or light your hair on fire, you take a deep breath and announce that it's time to do the song and bible verse. It's qu...

May & June Goals

Image
I didn't write down my May Goals (which may have been beneficial in a weird sort of way   to my productivity) but here are my May Goals  {in Review} (LAST May) 1. Watch an embarrassingly large amount of HGTV  I mentioned before that we had a free month of HGTV and we're proud to say that we ROCKED THIS GOAL. 2. Act Right Feel Right There were a number of things that fell under this goal. Things like... -Stop buying random junk and buy the $10 bath mat that you think is overpriced -Organize the garage because if I hit my car door on one more stroller/dog/grill, I might burn the whole place down 3. Make one change for the girls This could've been potty training, thumb sucking or big girl bed transition. We tackled the Big Girl Bed Move and I'm still too "into it" to write any sort of wise or witty blog post about it. Maybe next month week? This move allowed Liza to move from pack n play to the crib and I'm pretty sure I saw her mouth ...

October Goals

If you are new here, WELCOME. Recently  I've set a few goals at the beginning of each month as well as looked back at the previous month.  The idea comes from The Tiny Twig  who calls it Goals with Grace which is perfect for September's goals. I'll have a platter of grace, with a side of grace, please.    September goals revisited: 1. Record expenses and follow a semi budget   I jinxed myself. I think I spent more in September than I have all year. Record my expenses? If you count a pile of receipts hanging on the front of my fridge then CHECK!  2. Recommit myself to The  {dreaded}  Cleaning Schedule B+  3. Complete my weekly Bible Study on time This should I have read "Complete my weekly Bible Study AT ALL" Having missed two weeks due to being quarantined with my sick child, I fell off the Bible Study wagon.  4. Create care packages & gifts  I created a f...

September Goals

Image
Before we dive into the September goals , let's review the goals for August. Each goal is listed followed by a short evaluation (reflection?) 1. Go for walks This remained steady and possibly lacked a little. One reason was multiple play dates. It'd be impossible for me to walk and make it to a play date on time, duh. I was happy to swap walking for play date invitations.  2. Read one book I read Lift by Kelly Corrigan and Looking for Me by Beth Hoffman. I will never, ever, everrr recommend a book on my blog for fear of potential potty words and my younger audience. BUT I will recommend Julie G's blog, where I find all of my books. Click here   3. Use our public pool  Check!   4. Clean and organize The linen closet, pantry and garage are all organized and (key part here) have stayed that way.  5.  {Get my husband to}  Hang Decorations  He is always willing, I'm the one who hems and haws over what to put where. I hung...
