On this last day of January

1. A big, heartfelt HAPPY BIRTHDAY goes out to Justin Timberlake today. 2. I had to look up his age so I guess we're not as close as I thought we were (sorry, JT, I should be better). And apparently I can't type into my phone without adding random annoying period punctuation marks. 3. My bestie reminded me that it's the anniversary of our ear pierce-age. I was 13, she was 14 and we had them pierced by our pediatrician. The doctor had just eaten an apple with peanut butter and she apologized about it. The mind remembers some random things. 4. We had a mom and her 3/4 kids over this morning for a play date. The simple joy of The Play Date : If you are the attendee, you plop yourself down on someone's sofa while your children are enthralled with other children's toys. Then when it's time to leave, you walk out without having cleaned up a single toy. It's the best ever! (She hosted us two week ago). 5. It's my mom's night out  in, so I'm

Dear Liza, Today you are two! In the last year you've learned to walk, run (adorable), and talk. You say things like, "I DO it!" --like when you want to climb into a chair by yourself. You exclaim, "I did it!" with equal parts surprise and satisfaction when you're successful. You love to take care of your baby dolls. You feed them, take them on walks around the house, put them in bed and then repeat the process over again. You enjoy coloring and copying your older sister. You make us laugh and keep us on our toes. We love you, Liza! Love, Mommy

Frugal Friday

I'm not shopping these days- especially at thrift stores- because...hoarding. Also finances and being a responsible adult (l a m e) but today a local large catholic church had their annual winter yard sale and I've been looking forward to it. It's a huge sale with so, so many hoarders  shoppers. Last year my Ma came with me since she was in town- it wasn't the same without her today! Here's what I found for a total of $20 (woot!) If the thought of buying other people's stuff weirds you out, you might want to skip this post.  Melissa and Doug mail box with mail and stamps For now, I'm saving this for a Valentine's Day surprise  $3 Ariel pajamas and sneakers for Liza When she saw the sneakers she said, "Too big". What a goober. PJS $? Sneakers $1   Headphones for Caris' birthday (She's been asking to use Kent's. Too hook up to what? I don't know), Ariel barbie for bath/pool time, tons of matching hair bows (h

A New Decade

Image
I shifted a small army of princess board books to Kent's side of the bed and moved a pile of folded laundry from the end of the bed to my dresser. I climbed into bed and bid my 20's goodbye.  That is the beginning of my memoir. What do you think? I wish I had profound, well thought out ideas about finishing my 20's and entering a new decade, but I don't. I'll just go with Kent's quote about turning 30, "You're old enough to be wise, but young enough not to be old." SOLID thoughts right there, you guys!  While the thought of actually aging freaks the bajeebers out of me (as does death, but that's a post for another day. And possibly a counseling session?) I have to quote one of the first quotes I ever pinned on Pinterest, " Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many " (Winston Churchill. Just kidding. Author unknown) And so, onward ho into my 30's!  rabbit trail Isn't it an odd, daunting fee

Proud Grandma

 Baby "Princess" was born on Thursday during a peaceful, all natural home birth. The birth took mere seconds and I was instructed to "Don't look Mom. Mom! Don't look. Liza don't show her"  And then our worlds were forever changed.

A Random List {of life}

1. We were awakened at seven a.m. on Saturday morning with this conversation: Daughter "I coughed up a booger" Parents "...." Daughter "Is that cool?"  2. Everyone at church today told me that Liza is getting so big and I was like TELLMEABOUTIT. Two years old in a few short weeks.  3. We ate soup for lunch today, wore long sleeves and didn't sweat because it was SIXTY THREE DEGREES in our house. Hiphiphoorayyy!  4. My daughters love to play school. I'm the teacher AND the bus driver (they work me hard). On other days I'm randomly called Grandma. I will answer to any name- unless it's said using a whiney voice. the worst 5. It's takes the discipline of a thousand monks for me to lead my offspring in cleaning up the house at the end of each day.  It is only at 6:15 PM everyday that I want to sell all of our possessions and move to a 250 square foot house. Letters

Dear Pool Guy, I'm sorry our large barking dog was on the back porch at 6:53 last Wednesday morning, thus resulting in you probably having to go change your underwear before going to the next house. Dear Lady in the Walmart parking lot, thank you for pushing my cart back to the cart return so I could buckle my kids in. No, God Bless YOU. Dear Christmas tree, I'm glad you're still hanging around. Dear Kent, one of my new joys in life is watching you suffer through an exercise class beside me. Dear Liza, when you walk by me and say, "Hi! How are you?!" I nearly die from the cuteness. Dear Caris, you have the memory of a Jeopardy player and the energy of a thousand suns. Care to share either of those things with you forgetful and tired mom? Dear Children's Director, I'm secretly relieved that we'll be on vacation during the week of VBS this year. Dear Patch, thanks for letting the girls sit on you while saying "Giddy Up!" and for
